About me
Ray Davidson recently retired from leading the Michigan Cyber Civilian Corps, which was the first state-sponsored team of civilian incident responders in the country. He is currently working to expand the practice of cyber civil defense across the country, with particular attention to vulnerabilities and technical debt in critical infrastructure. He continues to serve as a mentor, tactful rabble rouser, subject matter expert and technical reviewer for the SANS Institute, and for anyone else who will listen.
He holds a doctorate in Chemical Engineering, and a bunch of infosec certifications. He has worked as a paperboy, gymnastics instructor, telephone information operator (before Directory Assistance), research scientist and has led global security projects for a major pharma company. He has been a college professor, a dean (SANS Technology Institute) and has cofounded a security startup. Since he has trouble keeping a job himself, he is passionate about empowering others to do the right thing. And dance.
